Even people who don't have tattoos seem to have big opinions on them. However, their over reaching statements typically don't have a modicum of truth to them. It's up to you to inform the good people in the world all about tatts, so that they may go about life making informed decisions about body art. You didn't choose this life, it chose you.

Here are five false statements about tattoos. Now, go set the world straight.

1. You'll never get a job with a tattoo.
This is wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. It's so wrong. In fact, plenty of people who are covered in tatts clock into 9-to-5 corporate gigs.

People in your office likely have tattoos and you don't even know it. People in your office likely have tattoos and you don't even know it.

2. That tattoo idea is lame.
This is also false. And who is this person to judge a tattoo? They have a terrible sense of fashion and a bad attitude. Body art is personal, and whether you choose to get a feather on your hip or a cartoon character behind your ear, it's your body. Go on with your bad self.

3. A tattoo is forever

"You can erase unwanted body art and start anew with laser tattoo removal."

You can erase unwanted body art and start anew with laser tattoo removal. Get rid of your high school sweetheart's initials, an unwanted infinity sign or some other tattoo that you've fallen out of love with. Tattoo regret is so 1995.

4. Your tattoo will look awful when you're older.
Sure, if you have a tattoo on your stomach and then have a child, your tattoo might stretch a bit. However, body art doesn't necessarily look bad with age. Some people even grow to love their ink more later on in life.

According to a 2008 Harris Poll, 84 percent of participants said they didn't regret getting a tattoo. It's time to move past the whole "old people with tattoos is gross" bit.

5. People will perceive you differently if you have a tatt.
First of all, who cares what other people think of you. They don't even know you. And second, two-thirds of the Harris poll participants without a tattoo indicated that having a tattoo made no difference in whether they thought someone with a tattoo would do something deviant.
